AI & Automated Processing Disclosure
July 2, 2026 · Last Updated: September 10, 2026
TL;DR
We may use AI-assisted tools (chat assistants, lead routing, content and analytics tools) to operate our site and respond to inquiries. This page explains where and how, what data is involved, and your choices. We keep a human in the loop for decisions that materially affect you, and we don't sell your data to train third-party models beyond what our Privacy Policy allows.
1. Where We Use AI
We use AI and automation for:
- Answering the phone outside business hours. An automated voice assistant answers calls we cannot take live. It says at the start that it is automated, asks about your roofing needs, takes your name, number, address, and message, creates a record in our customer system, and can schedule a callback. It does not quote prices, make sales decisions, or take payment. A person reviews every record it creates the next business day.
- Routing inquiries, drafting and checking content, analytics, and security.
The assistant answers inbound calls only; it does not place calls. Under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the FCC's ruling of February 8, 2024 (FCC 24-17), an AI-generated voice is an "artificial voice," so a business may not make an outbound call with it without the called person's prior express consent — written consent if the call includes marketing (47 CFR § 64.1200(a)). Our outbound calls are made by people.
The assistant does not create a voiceprint, identify you by voice, or build a biometric profile. Calls it answers are recorded and transcribed per our SMS & Communications Policy. Say "agent" at any time for a human callback.
Texas. Calls to our number outside business hours may be answered by an AI voice assistant ("Laura", built on ElevenLabs), which says it is automated at the start of the call, takes your details, creates a record in our CRM and arranges a call-back from a person. It answers inbound calls only; it places no unsolicited outbound calls (Tex. Util. Code § 55.129 requires a permit for automated dial announcing devices). The Texas Responsible Artificial Intelligence Governance Act (Tex. Bus. & Com. Code ch. 552, effective 1 January 2026) requires the "you are interacting with an artificial intelligence system" disclosure only from governmental agencies and health-care providers (§ 552.051); we give it voluntarily. Chapter 552 forbids everyone from deploying AI to incite self-harm or crime or to discriminate unlawfully, and we do not.
2. Data Used
AI tools may process information you provide (inquiry details, contact information) and site-usage data, per our Privacy Policy. We use reputable providers under contract and do not permit them to use your personal information to train their own models except as disclosed or permitted by law.
3. Human Oversight
Estimates, contracts, and decisions that materially affect you are made or reviewed by people, not solely by automated means. You can request human assistance at any time via 1-866-733-5811.
4. Accuracy
AI-generated content may contain errors and is provided for general information only; it does not constitute professional or binding advice. Binding terms come only from a written agreement with an authorized installer.
5. Your Choices & Rights
You can decline chat or automated tools and contact us directly. Where applicable law provides rights regarding automated decision-making or profiling (for example, CPRA, PIPEDA, or GDPR-style regimes), you may exercise them via the Data Subject Access Request process or policies@interlockgroup.com.
No federal law requires us to tell you when you are speaking with an AI, but we do: the automated phone assistant identifies itself at the start of every call, and any chat assistant on this site is labelled as automated. Presenting an AI as a human would be a deceptive practice under Section 5 of the FTC Act (15 U.S.C. § 45). You can reach a person at any time by saying "agent" on a call or by phoning 1-866-733-5811 during business hours. If you tell the assistant not to call or text you, we treat that as a revocation of consent (47 CFR § 64.1200(a)(10)).
Texas. Recordings and transcripts of calls handled by our AI assistant or our staff are not used to create a voiceprint or any other biometric identifier (Tex. Bus. & Com. Code § 503.001), and our vendors are contractually barred from doing so. We do not use AI to make decisions about you with legal or similarly significant effects; if we ever did, Texas residents could opt out of that profiling (§ 541.051(b)(5)(C)). Texas is a one-party-consent state (Tex. Penal Code § 16.02(c)(4)), so recording by the assistant is lawful, but you may ask for an unrecorded call-back at any time. Chapter 552 gives you no separate opt-out and is enforced only by the Attorney General; complaints: https://consumerprotection.texasattorneygeneral.gov/.
